Scene Around Town: Farrah Fawcett Foundation and Dallas CASA

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s December 13 issue, I was pleased to share highlights from the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, an organization named after the iconic Texas-born actress, who recently presented the 2024 Tex-Mex Fiesta, to raise funds to benefit Stand Up To Cancer® (SU2C) and the American Cancer Society’s Dallas Cattle Baron’s Ball to fund Hope Lodge. Also featured were scenes from Dallas CASA’s recent Champion of Children Award Dinner celebrated the Dallas Mavericks for their impactful work in the community. The evening featured Sixto Cancel, founder of Think of Us, who shared his personal foster care journey and the importance of family connections for foster youth.
