Scene Around Town: Dallas Zoo and The Senior Source

As Society Editor for the Katy Trail Weekly I oversee the publication's Scene Around Town feature, which shines a spotlight on nonprofit and community events each week. In this week’s December 6 issue, I was pleased to share highlights from Zoo To Do: Safari Noir where Co-Chairs Mary McDermott Cook and Grace Cook led the recent 33rd annual Zoo To Do, presented by The Eugene McDermott Foundation, alongside Honorary Chairs Carol and Don Glendenning. Not only did the event sell out, but the night topped a record-setting $1.5 million that will benefit the Dallas Zoo. Also featured were scenes from The Senior Source’s 25th Annual Sage Society Dinner which recently hosted more than 100 guests and raised more than $230,000 to support older adults in their aging journey in Dallas. Ken Hersh, president of George W. Bush Presidential Center and board member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club, was featured speaker.
